Privacy policy

What this site collects, why, and who else touches it. It is short because the site does very little with your information.

Last updated 14 August 2026

The short version

  • Browsing this site sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, and nothing is stored in your browser.
  • The only form on the site is the franchise inquiry form. If you do not use it, you do not give us anything beyond an ordinary server log.
  • We take no payments here. Ordering happens on Toast, and delivery on Uber Eats or DoorDash — once you leave, their privacy policies apply, not ours.

Who this covers

This policy covers www.projectchai.ca, the website of Project Chai, 8263 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6R1.

It does not cover what happens in the shop itself, or on any other company’s site we link to.

What we collect

When you just browse

Our host records the ordinary technical details every web server records: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. We use it to keep the site running and to investigate faults and abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not try to identify you from it.

This site sets no cookies of its own and loads no third-party scripts, so there is nothing here to consent to and nothing to opt out of. Your browser stores nothing from us between visits.

When you send a franchise inquiry

The form on our franchise page asks for:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your phone number
  • the city or area you are interested in
  • your rough timeline
  • any restaurant or business experience you want to mention — this field is optional

We also see the IP address the inquiry came from, and use it to stop one script submitting the form a thousand times. It is held in memory for an hour and then forgotten: we do not attach it to your inquiry, email it to ourselves, or write it to the spreadsheet.

The form deliberately does not ask about your finances. There is no question about capital, budget or net worth, because none of it is anything we need before a first conversation.

When you call or email us

We keep whatever you tell us, for as long as it takes to deal with what you got in touch about.

Why we collect it

To reply to you, and for nothing else. A franchise inquiry is used to arrange and have that conversation. Server logs are used to keep the site up and to deal with abuse.

We do not sell personal information, we do not rent or trade it, and we do not use it for advertising. We will not add you to a mailing list because you submitted an inquiry.

Who else handles it

Three companies process information on our behalf, under contract, and only to provide the service they are there for:

  • Vercel hosts the site and keeps the server logs described above. If an inquiry email fails to send, a copy of what you submitted is written to those logs so that we can still reply to you — otherwise it would simply be lost.
  • Resend delivers the two emails an inquiry produces: the notification to us, and your confirmation.
  • Google receives a copy of each inquiry in a spreadsheet we keep, so that we have a record of it outside our mailbox.

All three operate outside Canada, so your information may be stored and processed outside Canada — in the United States and elsewhere — and may be subject to the laws of those countries.

Beyond those three, we disclose personal information only if the law requires it of us.

Where this site sends you

Several links here hand you off to companies we do not control. Once you follow one, you are on their site and their privacy policy governs — not this one. We do not receive your order details, your payment details, or your account information from any of them.

  • Toast, for pickup ordering and payment
  • Uber Eats and DoorDash, for delivery
  • Google Maps, for directions
  • Instagram and TikTok, for our accounts there

None of these load anything into this page. They are ordinary links, so nothing is shared with any of them until you choose to go.

How long we keep it

Franchise inquiries are kept while we are talking, and for up to two years after our last contact, so that we can pick a conversation back up where it stopped. After that they are deleted. If you would rather we deleted yours sooner, ask and we will.

Server logs are kept for a short period by our host and then rotated out.

Your rights

Under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, and under PIPEDA where it applies, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • give you a copy of it
  • correct it if it is wrong
  • delete it
  • stop using it, by withdrawing your consent

Ask using the contact details below. We will respond within 30 days, which is what the Act requires. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

How it is protected

The site is served over HTTPS, inquiries are stored in a database that is not publicly readable, and access is limited to the people who need it to reply to you. No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say so than promise otherwise.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions — if a change matters to you, the current text is the one that applies.
